Green Schools Committee

Promoting long-term, whole-school action for the environment Green-Schools is a student-led programme with involvement from the wider community.

The Green Schools Committee is comprised of a group of students who meet regularly to highlight and discuss matters of key importance to the environment and, more specifically, to our school and local environment.

Our Green Schools Committee has been awarded three flags: Litter & Waste, Energy and Water. We are currently on our final year of the application our fourth flag which is the Travel Flag.

Our Green Schools Committee has worked diligently to upkeep and further improve standards in relation to Litter & Waster in our school with the introduction of a Green School’s Code, recycling bins in all classrooms and a litter rota monitored by our litter wardens.  Thanks to funding from the Parent’s Association, an unused area of the school was upgraded by designing and creating a reading corner for the use of all students.

Green School Committee – Ní neart go cur le chéile!

Committee members develop key collaboration and leadership skills by undertaking environmental reviews, devising and implementing action plans and recording progress.

We are continuing our hard work by working towards the Travel Flag and developing innovative ideas in order to to reduce emissions from vehicles travelling to our school and promote carpooling, cycling and walking to school.  We aim to be active to be active and engaged members of our school community and encourage all students to do the same.
