The 5th year music students of Coláiste Naomh Cormac enjoyed a workshop with Deirdre O’Leary (Clarinet & Bass Clarinet) and Cormac Ó hAodáin (French Horn) from Cassiopeia Wind Quintet in Birr Theatre & Arts Centre on Tuesday September 19th, 2023.
Deirdre and Cormac gave an introduction to their instruments to the students which included a display on the evolution of the French horn. The students performed an accompaniment to Pavane by Ravel on chime bars, while also worked on composing incidental music and developing their improvisation skills. The workshop was provided by funding from the Arts Council and was a great introduction to senior cycle music for these students.
