Leaving Certificate:  Business 
Business is an optional subject at Leaving Certificate and can be sat at both higher and ordinary level. The Business course aims to create an awareness of the importance of Business activity and to develop a positive and ethical attitude towards it.

Students learn about:People: Consumers, Producers, Investors, Interest Groups, Employers, Employees and Entrepreneurs

Enterprise: Entrepreneurs, Management of Business, Financial Management, Human Resource Management, Marketing, Household Management, Starting Business and Running Your Own Business.

Environment: Types of Business, Community Development, Government and Business, International Business, Ethics and Social Responsibility. E.U and Role of Information Technology in Business.

The course also contributes to the creation of positive attitudes towards self-employment. 

Business is studied at both higher and ordinary level at Leaving Certificate level. At ordinary level students are required to sit a 2.5 hour written exam. At higher level students are required to sit a 3 hour written exam, which includes a compulsory question from three designated units of the course.

Subject Facilities

All Business is taught in one room, with internet access, data projector, computer and printer. The school’s two computer rooms are sometimes used for classes.
