Department Personnel
The department has one full time teacher who possesses expertise and experience in Agricultural Science.  She aims to encourage the development of manipulative, procedural, cognitive, affective and communication skills through practical activities that foster investigation, imagination, and creativity within her students. 

Leaving Cert
Agricultural Science is examined at Leaving Certificate by means of a project (25%) and one written paper (75%).

Department Facilities

  • There are two Practical Science Laboratories and one classroom.
  • All three rooms have internet access, video and TV. 
  • White boards are used along with data-projectors in all three rooms. 
  • Science Equipment Store (room between the two laboratories)
  • Books: text book, Encyclopaedia in Science (class set of encyclopaedias) etc.
  • Videos / DVDs (Themes: Pollution, Reproduction, Digestive System, Beef Farming, Potatoes etc.)
  • CD ROMs.(Ecology)
  • Power Point Presentations
  • Farmers’ Journal


Agricultural Science Department Activities
Students are involved in the following activities:

  • Farm Visit – Coorevin Farm, Borrisokane, Co. Tipperary
  • Ecology Practical – School Garden activity.
